Located by Lake Trummen in Växjö, Arken comprises three residential buildings with 85 apartments. Designed by Sajt Arkitektstudio, the Miljöbyggnad Silver-certified project was nominated for Sweden’s Best New Production Award in 2020.
Reflecting Växjö's long-standing commitment to timber construction, the buildings are built with a timber frame. The facade combines traditional lockläkt timber cladding with Swisspearl Patina NXT fibre cement panels in three colours and multiple formats. The timber is mounted in front of the panels, concealing the panel edges and creating a precise, layered facade expression.
The architecture is defined by material contrast. Darker fibre cement panels and robust timber cladding reinforce the public-facing facades toward the lake and main road, while lighter panels create a softer character facing the courtyard. The combination of timber and fibre cement adds depth, rhythm, and variation through contrasting textures, colours, and material qualities.
Swisspearl Patina Original NXT was selected for its through-coloured composition and matte surface, offering a timeless appearance where scratches are less visible over time. Together with the timber cladding, the material palette was chosen to ensure a durable facade that ages gracefully.
Please note that this Reference project features Patina products. However, since the colour range for Patina NXT is the same, this reference also provides a general impression of the look and feel of a Patina NXT project.
