Historical heritage meets contemporary architecture
Vienna Museum | Vienna, Austria

After three years of renovation and expansion, the Wien Museum on Karlsplatz reopened its doors in December 2023. The design by Certov and Winkler+Ruck Architekten aims to create a harmonious connection between the historical substance and the new architectural elements. The permanent exhibition “Vienna. My History” takes visitors on a chronological journey through the history of the city and reflects this symbiosis. As part of the renovation, Swisspearl Interior Carat HI panels in the color ivory were used at central points in the interior. These panels were installed specifically on the bases of the exhibits, on the suspended ceilings and on the cladding of the openings. Through their precise placement, they contribute to the architectural coherence and create clear visual transitions that emphasize the museum’s design lines without distracting from the exhibits. The Wien Museum stands for the successful integration of historical testimonies into new architecture. Swisspearl interior panels play a key role in this by supporting the architectural vision and at the same time offering sustainable and aesthetically pleasing solutions. This makes the Wien Museum not only a place of encounter with the past, but also a model of how innovative architecture can give expression to historical heritage.
